Local and ecological products

At Hotel 71, we firmly believe in the importance of supporting the local economy while preserving the environment. That’s why we’ve chosen to create our Host product line, which can be found specifically at Hotel 71 and Auberge Saint-Pierre. These locally-made products not only reduce our carbon footprint from transportation, but also guarantee the use of natural, biodegradable ingredients. 100% of our sales profits go directly to the Gilbert Family Foundation. In addition, we favor local suppliers for our other needs, thus contributing to the economic vitality of our region while minimizing the environmental impact of our supplies.

Water and energy management

Responsible resource management is at the heart of our ecological approach. We have invested in innovative systems that enable us to optimize our water and energy consumption. This includes certain energy-saving LED lighting systems. One of our flagship initiatives has been the installation of regular and carbonated water dispensers. This measure has not only eliminated single-use plastic bottles, but also offers our customers a more environmentally-friendly option for quenching their thirst, while maintaining the comfort and quality of service they have come to expect.

Reducing waste and plastics

The fight against single-use plastic and the reduction of our waste are priorities for Hotel 71. We have completely removed plastic bottles from our rooms and common areas, replacing them with dispensers. Our plastic pens have been replaced by wooden pencils, an environmentally-friendly alternative that’s just as practical for our guests. In addition, we have significantly reduced the number of printed magazines and newspapers, encouraging the use of digital versions. We also participate in a soap recovery program. Our waste management policy is rigorous, with a selective sorting system throughout the hotel, maximizing recycling. These combined efforts enable us to significantly reduce our waste production and our impact on the environment.

Awareness

We are convinced that awareness is the key to lasting change. That’s why we invest in ongoing training for our employees on environmental issues and ecological practices. For our guests, we have put in place clear and engaging communication on our ecological actions. Information boards in rooms and common areas explain our initiatives and encourage guests to participate, whether by reusing their towels, using the sorting garbage cans, or opting for eco-friendly modes of transport to explore the city. We believe that every little bit counts and that, together, we can make a real difference to our planet.
